die serie and the moon is a blind eye, widmet sich dem schlaf. schlaf als ein unbewusster zustand, als ein unsichtbarer ort. die fotografien entstehen in einem moment höchster intimität. nicht an öffentlichen orten, sondern in den persönlichen rückzugsräumen, die gewöhnlich jedem außenstehenden verschlossen bleiben. räume, in denen jede kontrolle aufgegeben, alle fassaden abgelegt werden. interessant sind dabei nicht nur die schlafenden selbst, die im schlaf ganz bei sich sind und keine reaktion auf die außenwelt oder die kamera zeigen, sondern auch die atmosphäre und das eigenleben, welche die räume und die gegenstände in der gegenwart von schlafenden entwickeln.

my series and the moon is a blind eye deals with sleep as a fuzzy state of unconsciousness and a fictional imagery of dreams. photography means more than describing apertures of reality. by taking photos of sleeping people i try to capture more than sleeping people, i’m seeking to build a imagery of sleep. i’m interested in the unguarded, diffuse moments and the pure expression when the social postures vanish to approach the secret character of sleep with my photographs. and for the people i portrait i visualise the invisible moments of unconsciousness they themselves are unable to see. i combine these portraits with stills of sceneries i find in their private bedrooms or apartments. the objects in there are sleeping as well. in darkness and silence, the sleeping person and the objects develop a life of their own.
